Archio is partnering with London Community Land Trust and Greenwich Citizens Housing to deliver seven much-needed, genuinely affordable homes at Susan Road in Kidbrooke. This project exemplifies our commitment to creating thriving communities by providing secure, affordable housing for local people.
We believe that regeneration is most effective when it's rooted in community need and shaped by local voices. That's why we've worked collaboratively to design two distinct sites – the "garage site" and the "backland site". We are passionate about housing that not only meets the needs of its residents but also respects and enhances the surrounding environment.
Careful consideration has been given to the complexities of small sites, ensuring that our designs thoughtfully address issues like overshadowing and proximity to neighbours. Furthermore, we are committed to delivering housing of the highest quality, thus the Susan Road development is being designed to Passivhaus standards, in collaboration with Etude. This commitment to energy efficiency ensures long-term affordability and environmental sustainability for the residents.
This project demonstrates how Archio combines technical capability with social purpose to deliver impactful solutions. As Jake Sherwood from Greenwich Citizens Housing highlights,“To actually be working with architects and the local residents at such an early phase - pre even getting the site - is kind of radical. It's not white wash participation, it's real and also the most fun part of being part of a community group like this.”- Jake Sherwood, Greenwich Citizens Housing
