As part of the continued development of Archio’s EDI strategy, Archio has partnered with the Paradigm Network to support them on their mission to champion Black and Asian representation in the construction industry. Through this partnership we will be involved with a series of events and workshops with the network to share our work and mentor young aspiring architects in their career progression.
Our first event was as part of Paradigm’s Professional Development series where Mellis and Kate gave a talk on digital engagement during the pandemic. Over the past year we at Archio have been working hard to continue engaging communities in the design process to create buildings that truly serve the neighbourhoods that accommodate them. So far, we have been using Zoom and Miro to create activities for the public to share their ideas on what their localities need, and give feedback on designs as they continue to evolve. We are now looking forward to how we can create a hybridised digital and real-world approach to engagement in the future, capitalising on the successes of the past year, as well as returning to more traditional forms of engagement to ensure we can maximise outreach to all demographics.
We really enjoyed discussing this topic and hearing about other approaches and experiences from the network’s members!
